All the Thanks

I’m taking a quick pause from a perfectly low-key holiday Monday to write a short post because it’s Thanksgiving in Canada, and it would feel wrong to let it pass without doing the obvious.

It isn’t hard to come up with a whole list of things I’m thankful for this year. Family, friends. My many, many privileges. Health. The health-care system. Ready-made foods that allow me—whatever the opposite of a foodie is—to avoid cooking an elaborate meal. Travel. Rediscovering hobbies and interests (including a sport; stay tuned!). Discovering new ones. Independence. Brisk days and hot baths. Public transportation. Libraries and coffee shops. My support network. You get it.

I could go on and on and on but won’t because this sweater won’t knit itself, people. Suffice it to say that there’s a lot of gratitude happening in my little world right now. So if you’re Canadian, Happy Thanksgiving. If you’re not, I’m thankful for you anyway. Grab yourself a seasonal treat, admire a tree, call a loved one, read a book, watch a stupid YouTube video—something, big or small, that adds value to your day. Oh, and thank the bus driver. I’m sure she/he/they would appreciate it.

Also grateful for my current view.
